This album is an exercise in just seeing if I can do something, namely compose, perform and produce some music in the style of Jean-Michel Jarre, particularly his first three albums Oxygène, Équinoxe and Les Chants Magnétiques. Needless to say I don’t have a roomful of old analogue synths, organs, mellotrons and whatever else he used so this is all done “in the box” as they say, on my computer in my little home studio. It’s been enjoyable to do as well as a steep learning curve, and while I doubt that JMJ will be quaking in his boots at the prospect of competition my work represents this collection of songs is a genuine tribute to a body of work that has given an enormous amount of pleasure over the years.
